West Contra Costa · Contra Costa County

Crockett

Crockett is tiny, steep, and famous for the C&H Sugar refinery on the water. The Carquinez Bridge passes overhead. The town underneath keeps a stubborn, local character.

Houses stack on the hill. The main street is short. The strait, the sugar plant, and the bridge are the whole view. It attracts people who want a place with a past and do not need a mall or a BART station.

Port Costa is the even smaller neighbor along the water. Vallejo is across the bridge. This is West County at its most specific.

Known for

Getting around

A car is essential. The closest trains are well south. The Carquinez Bridge connects toward Vallejo and the north.
